The new COVID-19 drive-thru centre, located right in front of the Energa Gdańsk Stadium, will commence its work on Monday, 27th April. It is the first facility of this kind in Gdańsk and second in Tricity. The establishment of the centre – as well as of the pioneering one in Gdynia – was possible thanks to the funding granted by the Pomeranian Voivode Dariusz Drelich, allowing the purchase of the necessary equipment and personal protective gear for its employees. The cooperation of the University Clinical Centre, Pomeranian Voivode and the Provincial Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, the City of Gdańsk, as well as the support of the Medical University of Gdańsk, were all essential factors contributing to the creation of the facility.
The registration for testing at the new COVID-19 drive-thru test centre in Gdańsk will start on 27th April 2020 at 10.30 a.m. The first patients will be admitted at 11.30 a.m. Tests will be taken prior to telephone registration. Based on the answers provided for the questions asked during a short interview, the registry operators shall decide whether a person can be qualified for the free examination. If so, he or she should arrive by car. Most importantly, it is not allowed to leave the vehicle during the examination. All those who decide to reach the centre by foot, or by the means of public transport or bicycle will not be admitted. Prior to the test all patients shall be identified on the basis of a document with their personal identity number. After a nasopharyngeal swab is taken, the collected and secured material will be forwarded to the Provincial Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Gdańsk for molecular RT-PCR test which will determine the presence of viral genetic material in the sample and attest the infection as caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. After the test, the patient returns home, where he or she awaits for the result which will be delivered via phone.
The UCC COVID-19 drive-thru test centre will operate from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. and 10.00 a.m. till 1.00 p.m. on weekends.
