Pofessor Radosław Owczuk, Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology & Intensive Care at the Medical University of Gdańsk and Tomasz Smiatacz, M.D., Ph.D. Head of the MUG’s Department of Infectious Diseases joined the interdisciplinary COVID-19 advisory team appointed on June the 30th by the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The main tasks of the team include: developing recommendations for building readiness to face any new wave of the pandemic, ongoing monitoring of the state of epidemic threat in Poland and preparation of substantive documents summarizing the experience of the subsequent stages of the fight against COVID-19 in our country.
The chairman of the team is the president of the Polish Academy of Sciences Professor Jerzy Duszyński, the deputy chairman Professor Krzysztof Pyrć from the Jagiellonian University, and the secretary Aneta Afelt, Ph.D from the University of Warsaw. In addition to the MUG scientists, other participants are: Anna Ochab-Marcinek Ph.D (Polish Academy of Sciences), Magdalena Rosińska, M.D., Ph.D (National Institute of Public Health – National Institute of Hygiene) and Professor Andrzej Rychard (Polish Academy of Sciences). The Team’s work will last until December the 31st 2021.
