A team of scientists consisting of prof. Miłosz Jaguszewski, M.D., Ph.D. from the MUG’s 1st Department of Cardiology published a series of publications in 2020 on acute cardiac conditions of patients diagnosed with COVID-19. The set of over 50 papers published in leading journals significantly broadens the knowledge about the treatment and prognosis of cardiac patients diagnosed with COVID-19.

The scientific works were prepared by a team of specialists: prof. Łukasz Szarpak (Warszawa), prof. Krzysztof Filipiak (Warszawa), prof. Jacek Smereka (Wrocław), prof. Jerzy Ładny (Białystok), prof. Tomasz Dzieciątkowski (Warszawa), dr Aleksandra Gąsecka-van der Pol (Warszawa, Amsterdam) oraz dr Janem Jurgielem (Wrocław).

Recently, the prestigious journal RESUSCITATIon (Jaguszewski M et al., RESUSCITATIon 2020) has published a commentary with a meta-analysis indicating the significant impact of a pandemic on the prognosis of patients after sudden cardiac arrest. The article is available at the publisher’s website.

Particularly noteworthy is the fact of intensive and successful cooperation prof. Łukasza Szarpaka (Warszawa) with Cardio Research Group from Gdańsk, led by prof. Miłosz Jaguszewski. The Group actively suppors research efforts of the MUG’s 1st Department of Cardiology headed by prof. Marcin Gruchała.
